Went through my glucose tolerance test this morning. It was really torturing in the sense that I have to fast since 8pm last night and I was already hungry by midnight. The test started at 8:10am with the technician drawing my blood for the fasting glucose level. At 8:15am, I was given a big glass of extremely sweet orange juice (taste like gassy Fanta orange soda). I nearly vomitted as the sweetness really make me sick. The technician told me that no matter what, I should avoid vomitting or else, I will have to come back another day (that was what happened to her when she was pregnant with her son). After the drink, I went downstairs to take a walk and to get some fresh air. I felt much better after that. Went back to the lab at 9:15am for my first hour blood draw. Walked around again after that as I was nearly bored to death. Managed to chit-chat with a few people. One of them was a pregnant lady that was almost due and she told me that when she did her 1 hour glucose challenge test, her sugar level was so high that she was declared as having gestational diabetes and didn't bother with the 3 hours glucose tolerance test. When I told her that I was only 3 points over the cut off points, she said it is really ridiculous and mean to let pregnant people go through such tiring test. Anyway, I hope I'll be fine.
Had my blood drawn again at 10:15am and finally at 11:15am. After that, I immediately went to grab my lunch. I was so hungry by the time. Would expect the result to be out tomorrow or Monday.
