I'm so glad that I signed up for earlier classes instead of waiting until April. The class was 3 1/2 hours long and it was quite tiring. Don't think I can take it if it is nearer to my delivery day. Well, there were about 15 couples in the class and we have to bring 2 bed pillows and a blanket along. The first childbirth class taught us about the anatomy and physiology of a pregnant body, labor and delivery such as signs of labor, stages of labor and breathing patterns. Then, we were showed a delivery video. To me, the delivery of a baby in the video wasn't as scary as what I saw during the multiple class where 2 babies were delivered in an operating room just in case of emergency c-section. We were also thought about medical interventions like external and internal fetal monitoring, forceps/vacuum and induction. Lastly, all of us have to practice breathing exercise. It was funny because all pregnant mommies have to pretend to be in labor and their husbands/support person need to do stuff like holding, hugging, massaging and etc (that was when the pillows and blanket were used).
The second part of the class will be held in 2 weeks. We will be going in this Sat again for a "Taking care of baby and infant CPR" class.
