Car Seat Inspection Class
Finally, we managed to go to the car seat inspection class this morning. The class was taught by 2 ladies from the EMS-Mecklenburg county (emergency and safety unit). The class was really good. WT and I were really impressed. Took one of our car seat to the class (the one Samm gave it to us just to make sure that it is safe to use since it is a used car seat). The class started with a short introduction followed by a video showing all the methods on how to place the infant car seat, convertible car seat or booster seat into a car/minivan. Then, we go through the important notes together and we were given a baby doll to practice. We were lucky that the infant car seat given by Samm is still usable since she bought it few years ago. But we were told not to use it anymore for our third baby!...hehe. Infant car seat with rear facing can only be used until the baby is 22lbs or 1 year old whichever comes first. After that, we will have to change to a front facing convertible car seat and that can be used until the age of 4. The rule is that a child will have to be seated on a car retraint until the age of 8!. After the practice, we went downstairs. WT drove the car to the main driveway of the medical plaza and we were told to fix the car seat base in our car. It wasn't that difficult and we left after they checked our seat. Well, still waiting for our minivan and the car seat protectors (which i just bought yesterday online). This class wrapped up my OB education...hooray....finally, I graduated, but I still have a lot to learn.
