12 months check up

Charissa and Cailynn had their 12 months check up today. Charissa got her shot (prevnar) during the visit but Cailynn had to hold on to it till a month later because she was running a fever due to ear infections. This is her third since Dec and Dr Ohmstede thinks that the last dose of antibiotic did not get rid of the infection she got in April. In fact, this is the first time she had fever due to the infection and I believe it is because both her ears were infected. She was prescribed an extra strength of antibiotic to take for 10 days. Poor girl, she doesn't have much appetite and couldn't sleep well. She only wants me, as long I hold on to her, she will be smiling away, sigh!!! I am sooo tired but I really hope she will get well soon.

Other than that, the nurse had to prick on their toes to get blood sample to test for lead and iron level. The results were not back yet.

Other thing that really makes me worried now is that Charissa is almost underweight!!She is in the 3rd percentile weighing 16lbs 10oz and 27.75 inches in height. Her head circumference is 44.4 cm. So, Dr Ohmstede wants me to increase her calorie intake and she will recheck her weight again in a month time. Cailynn on the other hand weigh in 18lbs 5oz (15th percentile). Her weight also dropped in the chart but Dr Ohmstede thinks that she is doing fine....just losing her baby fat. She is 1/4 inch shorter than Charissa and her head circumference is 44.6cm.

Their next appointment for recheck will be on July 1 and their 15 months check up on Sept 3.
