Diarrhea

A week after Cailynn was diagnozed with ear infection, Charissa started to have diarrhea. I thought she was down with ear infection as well because Cailynn had the same symptom before I brought her in to see Dr Ohmstede. So after just one day, I decided to ring the triage nurse and I was adviced to bring her in as well. However, Charissa did not have ear infection and her diarrhea could be due to other factors. Basically, there are no medication for her diarrhea (unlike back in Asia). Earlier on, I was told to give "Acidophilus" - probiotic to Cailynn but I was rather reluctant when comes to giving them adult supplements eventhough it was recommended and safe with the right dosage. So, I did some research and found out that there are actually baby probiotic in powder form that I can mix into any liquid. Did not get any at first, as I thought Cailynn was recovering (she was on antibiotic for her ear infection) but instead I gave her yogurt (yobaby yogurt contains probiotic also known as "live good bacteria" to restore healthy intestinal flora). The day I decided to bring Charissa to the doc, I dropped by Talley Garden to buy the infant probiotic. Talley Garden is closing down and therefore, they are having clearance sales on all products.

Charissa's diarrhea recovered after 5 days. I learnt the hard way by changing her diet and because she was very fussy and reluctant to eat or drink, it really make things quite difficult. All she had was rice cereal, white porridge, carrot, banana, yogurt, water and formula to help harden her stool. Tried soy formula and realized that she didn't like it. So, I went out to get her lactose free milk. So picky!!! With Charissa falling sick, I was extremely tired! I'm glad she is okay now and everything is back to normal! Phew!
