Pediatrician

Had a FAQ session with a Pediatrician at the Dilworth Pediatric today (see their website on the side link). Her name is Dr. Catherine Ohmstede. Generally, she is fine, friendly and outgoing and I'm more or less decided to get her to be my children's pediatrician. Her office is within walking distance from where we are staying now and it is really convenience. Furthermore, their practice satisfied what I'm looking for (after hours, weekends and holidays consultations, have separate sick child waiting room, immunizations and well visit are all properly scheduled, friendly nurses and staff and most of all, they seems to care!). Again, I checked with Dr Ohmstede on the blood cord banking issue and as a Pediatrician herself, she doesn't seems to support the idea of investing so much money on something that is very unlikely to be useful at this point. After speaking to three of my OB previously, WT had decided almost 80% that we're not going to bank the cord blood. I believe if I tell him about what a pediatrician had said to me, he will definitely be 100% sure about it.

I guess, my preparation on getting a pediatrician has come to an end. For my next prenatal visit, I will inform them about Dr. Ohmstede and when I deliver the babies, my OB will give her a call and she will visit the babies and examine them in the hospital everyday until they are ready to go home. My children first visit with her after returning home will be scheduled 2 days after and their first immunization shots will be done in the second month of their lives.

Now, I can concentrate on all the classes that I've signed up for. My first class on "Multiple" is scheduled on next Monday evening at Morehead Medical Center. Hopefully, this 2 hours class that cost me 10 bucks will be useful.
