Mom-to-be......my first pregnancy blog!

Hope it is not too late to start my pregnancy blog now. I'm already entering my second trimester. Wanted to do this much earlier but it was either that I'm feeling sick or I'm too tired. Eventhough I don't have much morning sickness, the daily headache followed by mild nausea were bad enough. Not forgetting the acute pain on my right ribcage during my 6th week. It was so terrible that I couldn't sleep well for 2 nights. Whenever I try to lie down, it was so painful. End up, the best solution to sleep was to sit up straight with my head resting on a pillow which I placed it on the table. I wasn't worried about it coz I read somewhere in the internet that it is a common pregnancy symptom but usually it happens around the 8th months. At that time, I still don't know that I'm pregnant with twins. So, I went to CVS pharmacy to buy a cold pack. After applying that, I felt so much better and three days later, I was fully recovered from the pain.

Ok, back to the beginning of my journey. How did I found out that I'm pregnant? Well, a couple of nights before my missed period, I woke up in the middle of the night with stomachache. It was getting painful each minute. Thought that I was hungry and it was gastric pain but after eating, the pain is still there and I was then shaking and sweating. I end up taking a tylenol (pain killer) and try to lean back to rest. The pain subsided 1/2 hour later. I was okay the next day and night. Because I thought I was hungry, I ate something before I went to bed. But then, I wasn't that lucky the following night. The pain was back and again, I couldn't take it and I have to wake WT up. I was shaking and sweating again and I have trouble opening the cap of the tylenol bottle. WT has to do it for me. Again, everything went well after a while. The next morning, I decided to make an appointment to see a doctor/gyne. Managed to get hold of one in the afternoon (it was Thurs Sept 28). The doctor ordered a battery of blood test and did a pregnancy test.,i.e hcg beta. I didn't get the result until the next morning around 10am when a nurse called me. She was telling me that everything was fine and that my pregnancy test came back positive with a HCG level as high as 162!!! I was so happy at that time. Didn't tell anyone including WT immediately because I still couldn't believe it and I refused to take a home pregnancy test (what if it is negative????).


That morning, I was trying to plan a way to tell my DH about it. Thought that I could keep the secret to myself for another half a day but he called during lunch time. Oh well, he still remembers that I took a pregnancy test in the clinic yesterday....so, when he asked, I have to tell him the truth....there goes all my plans!!!! I kept telling him that it was not confirm yet....hehe...as I still have 2 more hcg beta to take every other 2-3 days to confirm that my pregnancy hormones are increasing at a satisfactory rate (not sure if it is because my first test was done few days before my missed period and my beta was already very high). My following appointment was on the morning of Oct 1. After the bloodwork, WT brought me out for breakfast...btw, we had a mini celebration at a western oriented Indian restaurant on the day I found out I was pregnant...(don't think I will go there again...not spicy enough and very pricy). Reached home just minutes before 10am and I received the call from the clinic....another positive result with my beta of 384. Before calling our parents, I took a home pregnancy test using the Clear blue digital strip and within seconds, it shows "Pregnant"....After lunch, we went to Barnes and Noble to check out some pregnancy books (end up buying from Amazon coz it is cheaper) and when I reached home, I realized some blood stain on my panties. I started crying!!!!!!thought it was a miscarriage. Luckily, WT was there with me and he told me to see how things goes for the next couple of hours. No more blood...yahoo....the next morning...I was having brown discharge and I was again feeling worried. I called the nurse and she told me that it was just old blood and the bleeding yesterday could be implantation bleeding. As long as I'm not bleeding continuously and no cramping on my lower abdomen, I should be fine. So, I took a bedrest on that day. Went in for my third beta on Wednesday and the figure shoot up to 1391 and my progesterone level was 300+ (which is very good).

Oh well, from then onward, I was peeing alot and kept checking if I'm bleeding. I think this is a very normal to react that way as miscarriage rates during the first trimester are higher. Heard so much about "Vanishing Twin Syndrom". At about 6 weeks plus, I went in for my first ultrasound and....that was when I heard two fetal heartbeats.....134bpm and 127bpm respectively. The doc wants me to go in for another round of ultrasound 2 weeks later. Brought WT along as he missed the first one. The heartbeats increased to 181bpm and 178bpm. Was able to see the arms and legs and one of them was dancing!!!!!hehe....

My next appointment will be on Dec 8. Btw, I will be giving birth in Carolinas Medical Center just across the street....when I'm about to deliver, WT can push me there using a supermarket cart.....don't have to find parking!!!!!
